The Midway Point Of The Summer Season

And just like that the Packers Summer season is halfway over.

At the midpoint of their season, the Packers find themselves undefeated with a record of 5 and 0 after a 4 to 3 victory tonight over Woodbury.

It was nice to see little Brooke score her first goal of the season.  Also scoring for the Packers tonight were Gabs and Careline (2 goals).

SSP will be playing in the Bloomington Mega Cup tournament this upcoming weekend.  It promises to be a fun weekend of soccer.

A Shutout Victory

I wasn't able to make it to last Thursday's game against the St Paul Blackhawks but I hear that our girls played a fabulous game with tremendous passing, great goals by Ashley, Addison, Kayla, and Gabrielle, and solid goal tending by Kayla in the first half and Ashley in the second half.  All of of these factors combined made for a 4 to nothing impressive shutout victory for the Packers.

Up next, if the stormy weather holds off, is a game tomorrow evening in Woodbury.

A Whole Lotta Scoring Going On

When Cottage Grove scored just mere seconds after the start of last nights game it appeared that the Packers may have been headed for their first loss of the season...but our girls had a very different outcome in mind.  We pulled it together and started playing our game and shortly thereafter took the game over.  Mia, Madison, and Careline each scored their first goals of the year.  I love to capture the girls reactions after they score.  Madison and Careline can hardly contain their excitement...and Mia, although she has a smile on her face, looks likes she's ready to get back to business and do it again!

With the help of good goaltending (as always) by Kayla in the first half of the game and with Gabrielle's hockey skills put to use in nets in the second half, the Packers never gave up the lead once we had it.  The final was 5 to 3 Packers with Mia and Madison each getting one goal and Careline scoring 3.  The team is now 3 and 0 for the Summer.

It's fun to watch the girls play with more confidence in each and every game.  They seem to be playing their positions better and under the direction of Coach Randy I only anticipate they'll continue to improve as the season progresses.

The Packers have some of the finest fans around.  For 2 out of 3 games now we've been cold and we've been rained on...but there's no place we'd rather be than watching our girls play soccer.

Bob held up this salute to Careline after she completed a hat trick.  It put a smile on her face.

And our most boisterous fan, Andy.  His energy and enthusiasm is appreciated by players and fans alike.

2 and 0

Technically scores aren't kept for U9 teams, but let's face it, the girls always know who won the game (and us Parents know too, right?!)

Tonight the Packers played well as a team and came away with a victory over White Bear Lake.

Off To A Good Start

Welcome to a blog devoted to following the South St Paul U9 girls soccer team.  I'm hoping to report scores and post photos of each of the girls after every game.

The girls started their Summer season off tonight on a good note outscoring Woodbury by the score of 3 to 2.  Leanna, Ashley, and Addison were each credited with a Packer goal.

Check back again soon as the Packers are certain to have an exciting season of soccer in store for their fans!
